The
conference is to take place at the FCSH (short for: Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas/Universidade Nova de Lisboa), which is located North of the city centre. The full address is: Avenida de Berna, 26-C / 1069-061 Lisboa (Portugal). Some close landmarks are the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (a cultural complex comprising several museums, a concert hall, etc.), the Corte Inglés department store and the Campo Pequeno arena/shopping centre.
The underground/subway (called Metro) is probably the best way to travel within the city. The nearest stops to the Faculdade are: Campo Pequeno (on the Yellow Line), São Sebastião (on the Blue and Red Lines) and Praça de Espanha (on the Blue Line). If you want to stay within walking distance to the conference venue, anywhere near those stations will do (count 5 to 10 minutes to reach the Faculdade on foot). If you are looking for a more central location, it's probably a good idea to stay somewhere near a metro station, although you may like to know that Lisbon taxis are plentiful and quite cheap by Western European standards, especially if you are sharing. There are plenty of accommodation possibilities in the Faculdade area. You will probably get the best deals by booking online. We have had good feedback from visitors staying at the following hotels in the recent past: Hotel Alif Campo Pequeno (recommended) (http://www.alifhotels.com/hotel-campo-pequeno-lisbon.aspx?lang=en) Hotel Barcelona (http://www.hotel3kbarcelona.pt/en/) Hotel Continental (http://www.continentalhotels.eu/site/hotels/view/21.html) Hotel Sana Executive (or other hotels from the same chain) (http://www.executive.sanahotels.com/en/) We expect to have a rather full schedule on both conference days, starting around 9 a.m. and finishing around 6 p.m. (with some breaks in-between!), so we recommend that you arrive in Lisbon at least the night before the opening day, if possible. The full conference programme will be available shortly. Meals (other than coffee breaks) will not be provided by the organisation. You can have a basic meal at the Faculty canteen, but there are lots of eateries (including at least 2 vegetarian restaurants) in the area, where a decent meal can be had for 5 to 10 Euros approximately.
